Patterned Obi - お太鼓柄

This week at Kimono school I learned how to tie a patterned Obi - so that the pattern lines up with the center of the back (and front). It is amazing how precise the body measurements can be. The key to getting this pattern in the right place is using the finger-to-thumb measurement, which in turn is about one quarter of your waist measurement, to pre-measure the pattern placement, before you put the obi on.

今週は、着物学校で柄のついている帯の結び方を習いました・・・前と後ろで柄がきれいに揃うように。このため、体の測定が驚くほど正確でないといけないことを勉強しました。習ったコツは、親指から小指の長さ（その人のウェイストの約4分の1）を利用して、帯を身につける前から柄がウェイストのどこに来るかを予測することでした。
